The voice for the strategic transport needs of the South East region becomes the third Event Partner to link up with the recently launched Innovation & Technology in Transport Hub event.

Transport for the South East (TfSE) – the shadow Sub-national Transport Body recently established to represent strategic transport priorities in the South East area – has become the latest organisation to become an Event Partner at the ITT Hub 2020 event, which will take place in May 2020.

One of four such bodies in the UK, Transport for the South East aims to move from its current shadow status to become a statutory body in 2020, in the year that the inaugural Innovation & Technology in Transport Hub (ITT Hub 2020) event will be staged at Farnborough.

The two-day event will bring together a wide range of suppliers and operators of commercial vehicles and public transport under one roof to collaborate and showcase latest developments in energy efficient, low emission transport and related technologies, data and infrastructure.

With the South East crucial to the UK economy and the nation’s major international gateway for people and businesses, TfSE speaks with one regional voice on strategic transport issues. The strategic link with ITT Hub 2020 was agreed as both organisations took part at the recent Highways UK event at the NEC Birmingham.

As an Event partner at ITT Hub 2020, TfSE will take a leading role in the conference and seminar programme that will take place at the redeveloped £30m Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre, home to the world-renowned international air show and, itself, in the heart of the South East region.

Speaking about the tie up, TfSE Chairman Keith Glazier said: “The South East is a major driver of the economy, with 7.5m people, 329,000 businesses and some of the UK’s busiest rail routes and roads. In aggregate it adds more than £200bn to the UK economy each year. Transport & logistics and Low carbon environmental are two of eight high growth sectors in the region, so an Event Partnership at ITT Hub 2020 at Farnborough is an ideal opportunity to share our vision for transport in the region”.

TfSE CEO Rupert Clubb added: “Our vision is to grow the South East’s economy by facilitating the development of a reliable, high quality, integrated transport system that makes the region more productive and competitive, improves access to opportunities for all, and protects and enhances the environment. ITT Hub 2020 will be an excellent platform to engage with a wide range of stakeholders who will play a key role in helping us deliver this vision.”

Transport for the South East is the third Event Partner to pledge their support to ITT Hub 2020 since the event was officially launched last month, joining the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) and the Renewable Energy Association (REA).

Mark Griffin, CEO of event organiser Binswood Media said “With two major airports, five major ports and no less than 22 strategic corridors in the region, the South East is a transport hub connecting UK businesses to the rest of the world. TfSE’s involvement in ITT Hub 2020, and the newly formed Advisory Board that we have been encouraged to set up to help shape the event, is both very welcome and timely.

He added: This is just one of a number of exciting announcements that we will be sharing with the market in the run up to Christmas, demonstrating the very significant progress that we have made since launching the new event last month.

Innovation & Technology in Transport Hub (ITT Hub) will be an annual exhibition that will take place at Farnborough International in Hampshire. Taking place over two days each May, the first edition of the event – ITT Hub 2020 – will take place 13-14th May 2020, with a dedicated content channel launched ahead the inaugural event.
